forest Theories Ethos

Where to start. There is much around us that needs attention, care, healing.

The body is an excellent site for liberation. Self care can be a radical act in a culture of extraction. When we return to our body and find some peace, we encounter deeper layers of ourselves, and we often see more clearly what it is we need to do next.

Massage is a somatic therapy, it communicates simultaneously with the physical body, the nervous system, the conscious mind, and the subconscious memory.
Massage is an intuitive, relational act. We work together to explore, connect and resolve patterns of tension, aches and stiffness, limited range of motion, at the same time coaxing the nervous system back into clear, calm awareness.
Sometimes people enjoy chatting, this is fine, but in general silence is more therapeutic. Some people have emotional releases, like crying, or laughing, this is fine, I hold space for that vulnerable healing work.
My bodywork is an extension of my self, my joys and my suffering, my thoughts and feelings, my pursuit of service, and my human labor. I try to encounter every client with sensitivity and curiosity, meeting them where they're at and respecting their process.

Let me know how I can support you.

My Story
My relationship to massage therapy formed as an aspect of my own challenges with having a body and a brain.

Living and coping with depression, neuro-divergence and chronic pain is central to my understanding of life and to my practice as a massage therapist.

My techniques focus on listening with my hands while using careful deep pressure to release tension held in the muscle tissues and nervous system.

My bodywork comes from the Swedish tradition, and is informed by contemporary neuroscience, trauma research, anatomy, and kinesiology, as well as various therapeutic and spiritual models associated with the Human Potential Movement, including Permaculture, mindfulness based healing, Internal Family systems, attachment theory, etc.
The concept of Forest Theories is my own term for the complex system of science, philosophy, experience, training and intuition that form the foundation of my work as a massage therapist and human.
